Antique Sanborn Sterling Silver folding Medicine spoon.  The teaspoon end folds into the tablespoon end.  In open position
spoon(s) is 7" long.  In closed position spoon(s) is 2  7/8" long.  The teaspoon end is 1 " across at widest point and the tablespoon
end is 1 5/8" across at widest point.  The connecting bar is 2 1/4" by 5/8".   On top of  the connecting bar are some marks I cannot
read and the words Sanborn Mexico Sterling.

James Polhemus, Pharmacist. A classic city, state and occupation mark! James L. Polhemus was born in NYC in 1825, and was
an early pioneer to California in 1849. He set up a pharmacy in August of 1850, and was the 'oldest established legitimate druggist

CA Sacramento: John Lozier Polhemus DRUGGIST. Polhemus was an early California pharmacist and pioneer, who moved to
Sacramento during the gold rush of 1849. He was born in 1825 in New York City, moving to NJ in 1829, then on to Michigan in 1845,
then to California in August of 1849. He first established his business across from the Magnolia Saloon in Sacramento, but quickly
moved to 190 J. St, where he remained until his death. He occassionally traveled back East, marrying twice. He died in 1866, and
