Mansfield Drug Co.
Memphis, Tennessee
MANSFIELD DRUG CO. MEMPHIS TENN .  Dr. Samuel Mansfield of Memphis Tenn. began in the drug business in 1846 , a wholesale
druggist store known as S. MANSFIELD & CO. , later dropped the S. In 1894 the company was sold to Peter P. Van Fleet, and bottles
carried the " VAN FLEET MANSFIELD DRUG CO."
Hi  Donald and Patricia,
I have recently discovered your most interesting website . I am putting together a small collection of medicine spoons and have
purchased latterly a few dose glasses. The latter were/are obviously much easier for dispensing medicine than spoons !
Clearly in the U.S.A. there is great scope for collecting glasses and your website provides a great framework around which to
collect. I have no thoughts of starting such a glass collection, the range is so vast and it would be impossible from the U.K.. I am
however interested in the fact that in building your collection you are establishing a list of drug stores and individuals who sold or
gave away complimentary
medicine dispensers.
I have recently acquired a spoon marked "Compliments Van Fleet Mansfield Drug Co. Memphis". On the handle there is a patent
number together with "1881R Rogers R A1".Does this ring a bell?
I would be interested to hear from you.
Regards.
