Beyond My Collections
Many collectors are unwilling to share what they know or what they have with other
collectors in fear that it will make it harder for them to acquire medicine glasses that
others have for their collections, by setting up this web site I have upset that apple
cart and also have created some animosity. These collectors were willing to share
what they have with others and I am grateful with them for doing so.
When I started this web site there was virtually nothing out there for the collectors to
base values or knowledge about medicine glasses, they were always just considered
go-withs for bottle collectors. Only a few serious collectors knew that many were
more scarce and had greater values than others, that was why I set up a rarity scale
for each state, it was the first step in trying to establish their scarcities.
Its been a slow process gathering this information its usually been one piece at a time
but I now have listings of close to 4,000 different dose cups and have many in my own
collections, I would hope that after I am gone someone else will take the time to also
share data with others. I am now 78 years of age and soon may have to give up my
collecting its a time consuming effort but I do enjoy doing it.
