This is one of a series of humorous flasks that
were created in Germany in the 1920’s for
schnaps - which here, was poured out a spout
hidden in the leaves of the tree. Characteristic of
these flasks is the finely modeled details of the
man’s face. The flask is a little over 5 “ tall and
hand painted. Other some paint rubbed off the
man’s nose, the piece is in excellent condition.
The stopper to close it at the top is missing. The
theme of this one is a man with a pink pig under
his arm – paused at an outhouse (Abort in
German). The small sign on the door indicates
that the user must deposit 10 pf. The man is
obviously in a hurry and is searching for 10
pfennigs in his pocket, which he does not seem to
be finding. The phrase on the front of the flask –
So’ne Gemeinheit – means – What a rotten trick! .
