| Hi Don, my info as to the start of the McArthur Newlee Drug Co came from a notice in one of the pharmaceutical magazines, which as you know, often had a "gossip" column with all sorts of info on drug stores opening, moving, closing etc and usually displayed by state. The notice was in the APRIL 1890 edition, so I should have said April in stead of May. It was an already existing store owned by J W McArthur, and William H Newlee bought an interest in the drug store, hence the new store name. The 1891-1892 buyout by J W McArthur was from the Spokane Falls Polk's Directory. There are also embossed bottles from the McArthur-Newlee Drug Co. It is very rare with only 1-2 known. And Wm Newlee remained in Spokane after selling his half interest back to J W McArthur. He opened a new drug store at 607 Riverside Ave with a new partner, George G Essig. This new business was called "Newlee & Co" and they also had embossed bottles, all rare. In 1893, Newlee sold his share to GG Essig and moved away from Spokane. Hope this is of help, Hi Don, sorry for the delay in getting back to you, I was on a trip to Pittsburg PA. Just checked my drug store book, McArthur-Newlee Drug co was in business from May of 1890 until 1892, when J W McArthur bought out Mr Newlee. Sounds like a good dose glass! From: "Donald E. Bergseng Sr." David could you tell me anything about this druggist ? I am trying to date when in bussiness. McArthur & Newlee Druggists Spokane Falls This information was supplied by David Bethman.
